It was a "Day of Lords" for UNICEF India on Friday 11th March. Two members from the British House of Lords, Lord David Puttnam and Lord Diljit Rana, paid a visit to UNICEF during their trip to India, the week of 7th March.
Lord Puttnam - better known as the producer of such successful Hollywood films as The Killing Fields, Chariots of Fire and Memphis Belle - is also the current President of the UK National Committee for UNICEF. Now retired from filmmaking, he is Chancellor of the University of Sunderland and focuses his work in Education.

India-born Lord Diljit Rana, a prominent businessman in Northern Ireland, was appointed India's first ever Honorary Consul in Northern Ireland in January 2005. Lord Rana was visiting India in the context of fostering business partnerships between India and Northern Ireland.
He also visited UNICEF's tsunami relief and rehabilitation projects in Tamil Nadu. Accompanied by the UNICEF State Representative for Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Mr. Tim Schaffter, he visited a Day Care Centre for toddlers supported by UNICEF in Devanapattinam Village, Cuddalore District and interacted with the small children and care givers there.
